QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE MELVIN G. COLE, FCSI, NCARB, CCS
Mr. Cole is the Owner and Principal Consultant of ARCHITECTURAL SPECIFICATIONS, and has been actively involved in the profession since 1963. He attended Western Technical College and the University of Arizona. For 15 years he was affiliated with the San Diego firm of Macy, Henderson & Cole, 7 years of which were as a full partner. In 1983 he sold his interest in the firm, and moved to the Los Gatos area. As a practicing architect, Mr. Cole has been responsible for design, contract documents, projected construction cost estimating, field observation and contract administration for major projects with both public and private clients. Among his public clients have been Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Corps of Engineers, United States Postal Service, The Department of the State Architect, University of California, The California State College System, as well as a number of City and County agencies. Mr. Cole's activity with private clients includes representative clients such as CAS Architects, Dowler Gruman Architects, Bottom Duvivier, MBT Architects, Hoover Associates, DES Architects and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals. During the past 30 years, Mr. Cole has developed a particular expertise in the field of contract documentation and construction specifications. His participation in the related professional societies, attest to his exposure to the vanguard of the evolving technology occurring in the construction industry. As a result of his activities in professional and civic organizations, Mr. Cole has received numerous local, state and national awards and honors from the American Institute of Architects, the Construction Specifications Institute and the American Society of Professional Estimators. In 1987, Mr. Cole was honored to be installed as a Fellow of the Construction Specifications Institute.
